The Food Services department serves the diverse downtown in approximately 30 locations across the St. George Campus, including faculty, staff, and approximately 80,000 full and part-time students. Your opportunity:

The Accounting Clerk is a key member of the Food Services administrative team and will work closely with those in the Food Service Locations, vendors, and students to ensure a high level of service, while achieving business objectives across the University’s St. George campus. The Food Services Administrative team consists of operational, administrative, and financial experts who support the Residential, Retail, Catering and Campus Events operations at St. George Campus. Within this collaborative environment, and under the direction of the Manager, Finance,
Administration & Operations, Food and Beverage services, this position will help support the day-to-day financial activity of operations and contribute to achieving area wide goals.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Coding and verifying financial information for processing in FIS and preparing and/or processing journal entries
  • Reconciling purchasing card statements and other accounts or information
  • Generating standard financial reports using system such as FIS, Sabretooth, QuadPoint, or applicable systems
  • Applying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements
  • Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
  • Identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies
  • Analyzing financial processes and procedures and recommending changes for improvement


Essential Qualifications:


  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) preferably related to Accounting or Finance, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in the accounting field, preferably in a Food Service setting
  • Advanced computer skills relating to Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), along with FIS
  • Strong keyboarding and data entry skills
  • Strong analytical ability and aptitude for figures
  • Ability to maintain a highdegree of accuracy and precise attention to detail under pressure of deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills, active listening, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and time-management skills and the ability to appropriately prioritize tasks


Assets (Nonessential):


  • Experience working in a Unionized Setting
  • Knowledge of FIS and the Hospitality or Food Services Industry
  • Experience with QuadPoint, Sabretooth, First Data, Cirreon, or Moneris
