Essential Functions
The Careers Services Coordinator supports a wide range of Career Service programs including advising, workshops, and events. The Career Services Coordinator provides advising and guidance to on-campus student employees and supervisors and ensures compliance with federal employment regulations. To promote Career Services programs, the Coordinator will assist in creating and launching digital media content and marketing materials. This position will also contribute to the overall performance of the Career Services team and support the strategic goals of the Division of Institutional Effectiveness and Student Success.

Work Schedule
Monday-Friday, 8-5; some weekends & evenings.

Additional Duties
  • Provide career development by advising students in career exploration, developing employment skills, and job-search procedures; delivering classroom presentations and workshops; and assisting in the coordination of career fairs and other career service events.
  • Support and enhancing on-campus employment by providing advising for UNO students and supervisors regarding on-campus student employment; coordinating student employment events; reviewing student employment forms and processes; ensuring compliance with federal employment regulations; and maintaining policies governing student employment at UNO with the support of Human Resources.
  • Uses industry-specific platforms and applications including Handshake, PathwayU, and Big Interview; provides training and troubleshooting for students, faculty, and staff in using these platforms and applications.
  • Provides a full-range of student services support to students and the public by responding to inquiries, requests for information, and assistance in person, online or by telephone for Career Services.
  • Assists in the creation of digital media content, presentations, and marketing materials
  • Assists in data gathering and research for employment trends, interviews, resumes, career planning, and other projects as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (counseling, psychology, student personnel, human resources, business administration, student affairs).
Required Experience: Minimum three years of experience in college counseling, college student personnel or closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in a related field.
Preferred Experience: Teaching and career advising experience and knowledge preferred. Experience with career services related software and data tracking. Training or experience in cultural awareness is helpful.
