AFA History: AFA was founded in 2002 by a family caregiver to ensure families affected by Alzheimer’s disease always had a place to turn for guidance, support, and services.


AFA Mission Statement:
The mission of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) is to provide support, services and education to individuals, families and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias nationwide, and fund research for better treatment and a cure.


Position Summary:
Provide assistance and support the Database Manager in maintaining the donor database.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Examine/investigate and resolve incomplete documents prior to data entry and discrepancy in the record if any.
  • Export and import information to Raiser’s Edge as needed.
  • Secure information by completing data base backups.
  • Maintain data entry requirements by following data program techniques and procedures.
  • Verify entered donor data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data; combining data from both systems when information is incomplete; purging files to eliminate duplication of data.
  • Act as back-up support to the Database Manager.
  • Maintain a complete filing system.
  • Accept phone donations and enter into spreadsheet.
  • Complete special projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Required: Associate’s Degree; minimum of 1-2 years related experience; familiarity with fundraising practices, donor giving records and donor reporting; strong attention to detail; good problem-solving skills; good time-management and written communication skills; ability to meet deadlines and multi-task; ability to interact effectively with a diverse staff; comfortable working as part of a small team; proficient in MS Office.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree; prior database management, Raiser’s Edge and non-profit experience.
