MassDEP seeks applicants for the position of Program Coordinator I within the Bureau of Water Resources (BWR), Drinking Water Program. The BWR Drinking Water program is charged with regional implementation of the Massachusetts Drinking Water Regulations and the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act to ensure the protection of public health. This position will be based in MassDEP's Central Regional Office (CERO), Worcester, MA and is primarily responsible for providing administrative assistance and support to Drinking Water Program staff including receiving, organizing, tracking and maintaining submittals, files, reports and other documents created for and by the BWR Drinking Water program. The position will also provide administrative assistance to the BWR Wetlands and Wastewater programs, as assigned. MassDEP’s Central Regional Office serves 77 cities and towns situated in central Massachusetts.

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Receive, organize, and track as necessary, drinking water related compliance records submitted by public water systems including but not limited to monthly chemical addition reports, lead and copper data forms, consumer notification certificates, water quality parameter results, Disinfection By-Product reports, Annual Statistic Reports, etc.;
- Organize drinking water files in chronological order used by drinking water staff for inspections;
- Scan existing drinking water files and received drinking water compliance records for digital accessibility, following regional file management procedures;
- Maintain drinking water program correspondence and related files;
- Assist/support the efforts of the regional Drinking Water Program staff with other administrative functions including mailing out final documents and returning paper records to proper location;
- Attend relative trainings, meetings, conferences and perform related drinking water work as assigned;
- Participate as appropriate in Program, Bureau or Regional Staff meetings and provide comment or input to matters relating to job duties.
- Conduct BWR administrative duties for the Wetlands Program and Wastewater Program, including mail sorting, filing, scanning, creation and maintenance of electronic files, and data entry;
- Conduct duties in a timely and accurate manner;
- Comply with all Department workplace rules, regulations, and policies;
- Conduct other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications at Hire:
- Knowledge and experience using computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, One Drive, SharePoint, Teams)
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Ability to organize, compile information and maintain accurate records
- Ability to review technical correspondence and compile results of data
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the public
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and deal tactfully with others
- Ability to meet objectives and established timelines
- Ability to follow instructions, guidelines, and procedures
- Strong computer and organizational skills
- Strong data management skills and attention to detail
- Time management skills.
