Overview:

Job entails working in an industrial environment. Duties include performing equipment surveys, mechanical design, CAD drawing development (mechanical & electrical), and documentation gathering. Candidate would provide assistance with maintenance reliability programs.

Mechanical design will primarily involve drawing/designing equipment components, updating drawing red lines and mechanical enhancements to existing systems, and assistance with on-going plant projects – particularly with optimization of the pellet mill system. Job will entail the roll-out of special labeling to identify and document plant piping (gas, water, compressed air, pneumatic conveying) as well assisting with organization of maintenance documentation and drawings for plant equipment.

Description:

Position will involve working with either AutoCAD or AutoCAD Inventor software and. drawing development will entail modifications to mechanical, process, electrical, and site drawings. It is important that candidates are mechanically inclined, “hands on”, and able to conceptualize designs in 3D. Project will involve field surveying of equipment and piping. MHSA Safety training, CAD training, and engineering mentoring will be provided; the candidate must be willing to learn and take on projects. Position is 40 hours per week during the summer months and optionally, up to15 hours per week when school is in session. Ideal candidates would have experience in an engineering related curriculum.

Learning Objectives:

• Developing mechanical drawings with AutoCAD Inventor and AutoCAD software
• Develop drawing sets for mechanical fabrication
• Successfully model equipment and detail piping/in the CAD environment.
• Work with the engineering group, vendors, and fabricators.
• Obtain design experience with mineral processing equipment.
