Job Title: Executive Director

Reports To: SYFS Board of Directors

SYFS is seeking a self-driven and highly competent executive director to lead and influence our organization toward favorable growth, and to design and direct strategies that support and enhance our organizational mission. Duties for the executive director include optimizing financial operations, providing leadership to all staff, establishing business goals, ensuring compliance, advising the Board of Directors on organizational activities, overseeing and streamlining daily operations, improving staff performance, and executing special projects. Stewardship and strategic planning skills are essential to the mission and objectives of SYFS, maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, achieving organizational goals, and maintaining sound financial practices.

The ideal candidate must possess a strong entrepreneurial drive, outstanding public speaking and communication skills, strong leadership qualities, and good planning and organizational skills. The exceptional executive director will streamline our organizational operations, effectively and efficiently direct operational budgets, improve revenue, direct our business strategy, and enhance relations with the media, internal stakeholders, staff, and surrounding communities.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, they will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the organization to include leading fundraising efforts and expanding finances, Board development and expansion, developing external and internal communications, overseeing programming excellence, human resources, operations, and all other aspects of the leadership of the organization.

In partnership with the Board, the candidate will help define and articulate strategic direction for the organization and drive execution for significant growth and expanded impact.

Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems

Actively engage and energize SYFS current and future Board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders

In partnership with the Board, develop and execute a long-term financial plan with multiple and diverse funding streams to achieve strategic growth goals

Drive development, fundraising and planning for organization’s key long-term initiatives to maximize, expand and diversify funding to expand current programs and new initiatives.

Evaluate and drive use of new technology for communication and funding, including social media and web-based tools

Represent SYFS externally to the communities served

Present and promote SYFS and its mission, programs, partners, staff, and clients to the community

Maintain a high professional profile in the local community and the regional philanthropic sector

Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for major campaigns and special events

Participates in ad hoc committees and meetings as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human or Social Services, Business or related field, or related experience. Master’s preferred.
  • A track record of success as an Executive Director, Deputy Director or Fundraising and Development nonprofit leader effectively leading a performance- and outcomes-based non-profit organization and staff

7-9 years proven administrative and management ability in a complex environment preferably health care, human services or other related service industry

Extensive experience in nonprofit development including grant writing, individual fundraising, event planning and corporate sponsor cultivation

Strong commitment to public service with an entrepreneurial attitude, balanced with the ability to respect, galvanize, organize and coordinate constituent groups

Demonstrated experience working with child-serving organizations and/or services

Demonstrated experience with community outreach, engagement, and advocacy including program development and implementation

Demonstrated experience in working with municipal, state and federal agencies

Demonstrated performance in strategic and financial planning and analysis

Demonstrated ability to perform within budgetary constraints delivering a consistently break even or profitable bottom line

Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal, written, organizational and project management skills.

Proven problem solving skills including innovation, flexibility and creativity

Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to build productive teams and motivate individuals at all levels of an organization in the pursuit of common objectives.

Demonstrated commitment to health equity and serving vulnerable populations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
