The Office and Communications Manager supports the ministries of First Christian Church by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the church office and building, managing internal and external communications and publicity, and assisting staff and volunteers with various duties to carry out the ministries of the church.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the communications needs of the congregation, including but not limited to: bulletins; newsletters; internal and external publicity; website and social media communications
- Manage the administrative needs of the organization, including but not limited to: purchase supplies; oversee mailings; manage phone and computer systems; maintain relationships with vendors
- Maintain accurate record keeping, including but not limited to: our membership database and related reports; distribution lists, files of official documents.
- Maintain the master calendar for the congregation and manage building-use requests from church members and outside groups. Coordinate with cleaning service to plan for set-up and clean-up for events and other facility needs.
- Provide hospitality during office hours (currently Monday-Thursday, 9:00 – 2:00), including but not limited to: welcoming visitors; answering phones
- Oversee and train church office volunteers to assist with above responsibilities when appropriate.
Requirements:
- Related work experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Organization and attention to detail
- Must be able to work independently and responsibly as the sole person on staff able to do certain aspects of this role
Preferred:
- Proficiency in website management (SquareSpace)
- Experience working in a church or non-profit
- Experience working with social media platforms (specifically Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
- Experience in promotion and marketing of a church or non-profit
Reports to: Senior Minister
Job type: Part-time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 2:00pm (20 hours per week). Potential for hours of the position to expand over time along with the needs of the church, in conversation with the Senior Minister and Personnel committee
Paid Time Off: Up to eight paid days out of the office and up to four paid sick days per year, does not carry over
Pay: $17.00/hour; potential for growth over time in position
