Acker, the oldest and most respected wine shop in America is hiring for full-time Retail Store Operations Manager. This role manages the overall retail store operations and is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, sales, customer service, and safety. The Store Operations Manager will enhance the operational procedure, systems, and principles in the areas of management, business processes, enhanced management reporting, and look for opportunities to expand systems and sales. The Store Operations Manager has employee managerial responsibilities in accordance with company's policies and applicable laws. The Store Operations Manager reports directly to the CEO.

Retail Store Operations Management

  • Analyze store processes and workflow, employee requirements, and implement improvements.
  • Oversee pricing on all store items, reviewing new items, cost price changes and market changes.
  • Review financial reports to identify opportunities for increasing revenue or cutting costs.
  • Maintain and establish vendor relationships.
  • Meet regularly with buying team to review and approve potential new inventory.
  • Manage web order processes and procedures.
  • Organize and update wine photos, tasting notes, and scores.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations such as those pertaining to fire codes, health codes, and labor laws.

Inventory & Delivery Management

  • Conduct cycle counts throughout the year.
  • Perform a regular analysis of inventory counts to determine optimal stock levels and follow up with any discrepancies.
  • Work directly with the finance department on annual inventory audit.
  • Review inventory to target which inventory to deplete.
  • Liaise with common carries while following both company's policies and applicable laws.
  • Schedule shipments with third party shippers when needed.
  • Review drivers manifest to ensure processes are being followed.
  • Responsible for all aspects of vehicle and equipment repairs.

Employee Management

  • Supports direct reports on deliverables and policies.
  • Delegates and assign tasks to both direct and indirect reports.
  • Review schedules and hours to be sure supervisors are providing coverage while maintaining budgetary expectations.
  • Recruit, select, train, coach, and discipline employees.
  • Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.
  • Work closely with General Counsel and Human Resources.

Requirements:
  • Wine Sales experience required with an understanding of the retail wine and spirits industry.
  • 4+ years of management experience in a Retail Store environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. supply chain, P&L analysis, customer service, compliance, human resources)
  • Experience with Microsoft based application, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business studies, business administration, or a related discipline.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Regularly lifts and moves cases of wine and spirits, up to fifty (50) pounds.
