Solutions is an affiliate of PlanET Biogastechnik GmbH, a German based company which ranks among the leading biogas plant builders in Europe, and has designed, constructed and services over 650 anaerobic digestion systems worldwide.
We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our team in Buffalo, NY, or St. Catharines, ON. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the selected candidate will be expected to handle aspects of process and mechanical design, code compliance, technical quality assurance, along with procurement and microbiological support.
Responsibilities:
- Manage internal design resources to develop feasibility assessments and preliminary design concepts.
- Liaison with production, quality, and R&D teams to develop new process designs and optimize existing technology.
- Ensure Digester and RNG systems designs are compliant with all relevant codes. Assess and analyze impacts of new codes to existing design practices
- Conduct detailed reviews and provide input into the development of process flow designs
(PFD’s, P&ID’s) for waste to energy and RNG plants.
- Assist in the preparation of technical bid packages and providing technical guidance for material selection
- Participate in HAZOP’s and Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews
- Develop quality control plans, controls narratives and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure plants are designed, constructed, and operated to company standards
- Review vendor documentation and assist in the preparation of O&M manuals.
- Provide input into plant commissioning and support Field Engineering in their task to ensure critical start-up functions are carried out according to company procedures.
- Investigate and troubleshooting plant/process problems, design of experiments. Collect and document data (lessons learned) required to make improvements and modifications of existing processes.
- Participate in client meetings and reviews to explain process flows and control strategies, and respond to critical design queries.
- Coordinate with third party engineers to ensure safe and reliable designs to meet performance specifications.
Qualifications:
- 8 years' + experience with process design development and implementation
- Post-secondary education in chemical engineering is required, or mechanical engineers with a chemical engineering background.
- Understanding of applicable codes in the field of fuel gas handling and wastewater
- Experience in wastewater treatment or renewable energy is a plus
- Registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario or other province is an asset
- Results driven with strong communication and organizational skills.
- A self-starter and an independent worker
- Ability to use AutoCAD
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products
- Must have valid drivers license and have the ability to work in Canada and the United States
- Hybrid 1-2 days in the office
