About the job
The AB Mauri/AB Biotek Strain Development team is looking for an enthusiastic Research Scientist I to support the advancement of our Strain Development Program. The Research Scientist I will be responsible for the daily execution of experimental plans, including but not limited to experimental setup of microbiological cultures, metabolite analyses, strain genetics, data reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, have an inclination for applied research, and maintain flexibility to accommodate priorities under the supervision of a Lead Research Scientist.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Conduct and execute experiments applying standard techniques and procedures
- Prepare buffers and sterile media to support experimental plan
- Maintain contamination free cultures
- Prepare, monitor and perform quantitative analyses on microbiological cultures
- Operate analytical instrumentation
- Collect data and perform analyses using rigorous statistical tests
- Create technical reports and communicate results to project managers
- Assist with general laboratory duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications for the position are:
- BS in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field and 2-5 years of laboratory experience
- Preference given to individuals with microbiology/biochemistry/biotechnology laboratory experience
- Working knowledge of basic statical analyses (ability to use SAS JMP software is a plus)
- Adherence to safety requirements of a BSL-2 laboratory
- Follow oral and written instructions and work effectively with others
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Pay: $45,204.09 - $95,986.00 per year
