SUMMARY:
The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
The OMB Social Services Revenue Unit manages and monitors revenue including federal, state, and private grants that help fund NYC’s social service agencies. The agencies include the Department for the Aging (DFTA), Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), and the Department of Social Services (DSS). A few examples of services these agencies provide include cash assistance, food assistance, shelter, preventive services, senior centers, and youth employment programs.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Research and develop summaries of revenue sources supporting social service agencies. This includes researching eligible uses of funding, allocation formulas and amounts, claiming rules and how these different funding sources are used to support social service programs. It also includes researching historical claiming data and the effects of historical policy changes.
- Assist in the operations of the unit including evaluating budget requests, and monitoring and updating revenue forecasts and projections.
Minimum Qual Requirements
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university or law school.
Preferred Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exceptional organizational, research, and analytical skills.
- Strong problem solving, data management, and data analysis skills.
- Outstanding written and spoken communications skills.
- Experience with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Access is required.
- Interest and/or experience in social services is preferred.

Graduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program. Candidates should have strong analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills. Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program.
Compensation/Duration:
Summer Graduate Intern $19.50 per hour
Internships will run for 10 weeks, from June 5, 2023 to August 11, 2023. The work must be done during the regular workday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. – no evenings or weekends.
